Join us for interactive ASL storytimes where children and families can enjoy engaging stories, build language skills, and connect through American Sign Language.

Each event will feature a fun and interactive storytime led by our Community Health and Literacy Program Deaf Mentors, along with creative arts and crafts activities for children and families to enjoy together. ASL interpreters will be provided to ensure an inclusive and accessible experience for all participants.

Are You IEP Ready?

 If your child is Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing, understanding the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process is one of the most important ways you can advocate for their education. An IEP is a personalized plan that outlines the services, supports, and accommodations your child receives in school

Join The Holley Institute and Michigan Department of Civil Rights for a free workshop on Saturday August 22, 2026 from 10:30am-1:30pm Redford Township Library located at 25320 W 6 Mile Rd Redford, MI 48240.

This workshop is designed to help parents and caregivers better understand the IEP process, know their educational rights, and feel more confident walking into their child’s next IEP meeting. Learn from guest speaker Megan Ward, M.A.Ed., an experienced Teacher of the Deaf, who will share practical tips on preparing for IEP meetings and advocating for your child.

Need to bring your child? No problem! While parents attend the workshop, the Holley Institutes’ Deaf Mentors will host a fun, supervised children’s program with ASL storytime, games, activities, and interactive play—giving parents the opportunity to focus on the presentation while their children enjoy a language-rich environment. Light snacks will be provided.

This event is FREE, but registration is required. Space is limited!
